Here is an incredible collection of the major hail storm around Red Deer, Alberta last night. Red Deer
This stuff is now over Yorkton for their second major storm in 24hrs. We are going to try and chase what we can from Saskatoon today, maybe we will end up in Dauphin, Manitoba as it seems to be heading that way very slowly, NE@20km/hr. OR the Regina area is supposed to be wild later today.
Sounds like something big is brewing for tommorrow. Right now we have storms in southern Alberta moving into western Saskatchewan tonight, and another cluster of big cells in south-east Saskatchewan moving in to Manitoba. I haven't had much time to look at the forecast for Friday but the buzz is on... look here: TornadoVideos.net Blog
Several tornadoes have been reported to have destroyed lake areas north of Winnipeg on Saturday. Information is slow to come in but photos of the twisters have been posted on CBC and CTV. Injury (dozens) and damage numbers have been increasing as the day goes on but at least one person is dead another is in critical condition and the damage photos are disturbing. This storm was predicted two days ahead of time with a high risk issued at 11am on Saturday for the area by saskatoonscanner.com. Video from the storm when it hit Saskatoon on Friday will be posted this afternoon. The weather is expected to be clear for the next few days on the Canadian prairies while central Ontario in eastern Canada is under another high to moderate risk for severe weather. This already deadly system is moving towards central Quebec for Sunday night and Monday.
